About Me
My name is Alex Pereszlenyi. I’m a 32-year-old, data analyst and software developer. I’m a proud dog dad to a sassy labradoodle named Charlie. I was born and raised in the Las Vegas valley and love supporting small, locally owned restaurants. Tell me your favorite places!
I love sports and grew up as a huge UNLV sports fan and Angels baseball fan. As a hopeless romantic, I have embraced the guilty pleasure of watching reality TV like Love is Blind and Love Island. AND, I’m not afraid to channel my inner Backstreet Boy or Miley Cyrus at my local karaoke bar to put on a show you’d never forget.
My parents worked really hard to give my younger sister and me a good life. My mom was a sonographer, often sharing exciting pregnancy news with growing families. My dad was a hard-working salesman. I graduated as valedictorian from Green Valley High School in 2011 and from UNLV in 2016 with a degree in Finance and a minor in Global Entrepreneurship.
After college, I moved to Minneapolis for a dream job in baseball analytics. I loved helping professional and collegiate baseball teams around the country compete for championships, but I missed the special community in the Las Vegas valley. Back home, it’s been hard to see some of the hardest working people I know struggling with student debt, daycare costs, skyrocketing rent, and chronic medical issues. I began pouring through what I know most, the data to find ways to help my ailing home state. It became painfully clear that our career politicians weren’t doing enough, and it was time to do something about it.
My generation and I have been beaten down by events I’ve been told are once in a lifetime occurrences. I remember school on 9/11, seeing my friends lose their childhood homes during the Great Recession, and the COVID-19 pandemic turning the bright lights of the Las Vegas Strip into a ghost town. Throughout these “once in a life-time events” I saw my dad lose his job and my parents lose their dream home because of the Great Recession. I, and many Nevadans, lost their jobs in the COVID-19 pandemic. Those that did keep their jobs had to put their lives at risk with a deadly virus raging. Every time we survived these harsh events, the average Nevadan was left poorer, while the rich got richer.
It’s why I am done watching from the sidelines, while the same people in power fail to tackle the problems we face. It’s time for new, younger voices in our politics that won’t bow down to corporations and special interests. I am running because Nevadans deserve better, and it’s time to bully the bullies until we get it.
