Climate Change

Where I Stand

Anyone who lives in Las Vegas can tell you that it’s hot as hell here. Historic droughts have caused literal bodies to wash up at Lake Mead as our water supply keeps dropping and dropping. These things continue to get worse year after year, and they put us all at risk, especially places like the Las Vegas Valley.

Climate change affects many, but hits the most vulnerable parts of our population the hardest. Climate experts agree that we will reach a tipping point in the next 10 years that will irreversibly harm our planet. Donald Trump has been a terrible president when it comes to climate, relaxing and eliminating crucial environmental protections. We must act swiftly and aggressively to mitigate the forthcoming climate crisis. Nevada was once the center of green energy production with the creation of Hoover Dam. Let’s get back to that. Because we can fix the planet and give Nevadans good paying jobs in the industry of the future.

What I’ll Do

By supporting clean energy projects and sustainable practices, we can make a significant impact on our climate while becoming global leaders in energy. We can do that by:

  • Advocating for strong climate policies and supporting initiatives that aim to reduce carbon emissions and promote renewable energy.

  • Push for legislation that protects our environment and investing in green technologies. I will work to ensure that Nevada becomes a leader in climate change industries, creating good-paying jobs for Las Vegas and Nevadans.

  • Nevada has some of the best water conservation laws in the southwest, and I’ll push for better water rights for Nevadans who have been doing an awesome job while other states haven ‘t been pulling their weight. I will stand up for our water rights and ensure a fair deal for us.

Why It Matters

Climate change matters because it directly impacts our lives and the future of our planet. It will cost us dearly. Not only can we save lives by addressing climate change, but we can also become a world leader in technology that creates millions of jobs now and in the future. It's already too hot here, and Nevada has the capacity to benefit from a massive boom in climate change industries. This would provide more good-paying jobs for our community. Young people like myself, and frankly all generations, cannot afford to wait. Additionally, tech companies have had free use of our data for years, and regular people have largely remained uncompensated for contributing that data. By addressing climate change, we can create a stronger, more supportive community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and be fairly compensated for their contributions.
