Where I Stand

Our political system is corrupt. In the 2024 election alone, the top 100 wealthiest families spent 2.6 billion dollars. Elon Musk spent nearly 200 million just by himself, and 70% of those dollars went to Republican candidates. (Source: Guardian).  For us to be able to pass much needed legislation to deliver real change to struggling Americans, we have to get corporations to stop buying our elections and our politicians. That is why I’m for getting money out of politics and making elections and politicians bow down to us and NOT corporations and billionaires. And we can’t expect our representatives to deliver us this change if they take this money themselves like some Democrats do. That’s why I won’t be taking that money.

What I’ll Do

• Ban politicians or their families from OWNING or TRADING stock

• Reform the Supreme Court and overturn Citizens United

• Establish public funding for all elected federal positions. 

• Ban corporate contributions to campaigns. 

• Invest money into the FEC to punish election cheaters 

• Levy heavy fines against ANY violators

• Abolish the Electoral College

• Enact legislation that outlaws discriminatory voting laws that engage in voter suppression tactics. 

• Enact a nonpartisan agency to regulate gerrymandering

Why It Matters

Serving in Congress is a public service. It should not be a position to further enrich oneself or the people who pay them to do their bidding. This corruption kills hard-working, regular people like us. Unlimited money in politics allows corporations to continue to write the rules of our government and continue to drive up prices and increase the gap of wealth between us and them. Our politicians are more concerned with spending time at bougie fundraisers to raise money for their campaigns instead of time working on improving the lives of Americans. Getting money out of politics would FORCE our representatives to listen to us instead of corporations. Our votes would matter more. It would allow more people, who come from middle and working-class backgrounds, to have a chance to run for office, and not just elites who have the resources to do so. It is critical that we get money out of politics to take back our freedoms.
