Education
Where I Stand
I am someone who has benefited immensely from public education. I attended public school my whole life from elementary school through college right here in this very district. We have great public schools in Nevada, and they shouldn’t just be great depending on what zip code you live in. I owe much of my opportunities to the public education system, and I won’t bow down to the people trying to destroy it. But I won’t only support investments in public education but also deliver much-needed assistance to parents so they have more time to take care of their children and their educations, instead of cutting education for more tax cuts for billionaires.
What I’ll Do
Propose additional funding and resources to our underfunded schools.
Pay our teachers more! So, we can attract and retain high quality teachers
I will FIGHT like hell to also make sure we adequately fund childcare, which has had a dramatic impact on the successes of our education system and the well-being of our children.
Stop ignoring affordability in this state that is spilling into education.
Why It Matters
Our public schools are CRITICAL in providing any Nevadan with the opportunity to thrive. With more Nevada families falling behind, it’s hard for Nevada parents to keep and ensure their children get the education they deserve. Donald Trump is attacking funding at the federal level that will put a lot of our schools at risk so it is now more critical than ever to invest in education at the state level and address the issues in Nevada that dramatically impact the education of our children.
