Education

Where I Stand

I am someone who has benefited immensely from public education. I attended public school my whole life from elementary school through college. We have great public schools in this country, and they shouldn’t just be great depending on what zip code you live in.  I owe much of my opportunities to the public education system, and I won’t bow down to the people trying to destroy it. But I won’t only support investments in public education but also deliver much-needed assistance to parents so they have more time to take care of their children and their educations, instead of cutting education for more tax cuts for billionaires.

What I’ll Do

  • Oppose any cuts to the Department of Education and Title I schools.

  • Propose additional funding and resources to our underfunded schools.

  • I will FIGHT like hell to also make sure we adequately fund childcare, which has had a dramatic impact on the successes of our education system and the well-being of our children.

  • There is also a shortage of healthcare professionals, and we need to allow and invest in public institutions to train more doctors and primary care physicians. I would propose an expanded student loan forgiveness for primary care doctors and other incentives to make up for such shortages.

Why It Matters

Our public schools are CRITICAL  in providing the average American with the opportunity to thrive in this country. With more American families falling behind, it’s hard for Nevada parents to keep and ensure their children get the education they deserve.  I will not let Donald Trump continue his assault on public education and your child’s future. The Department of Education is vital in providing for the most underfunded schools in our district, and it will suffer immensely if we don’t continue to invest in it. We will ultimately fail our children if we continue to ignore education and fall behind other countries.
