Student Loan Forgiveness
Where I Stand
Student loan debt is soul-crushing. Over the course of our lives, we’ve seen big banks, corporations, and the incredibly wealthy get bailed out time and time again, but not us. Very Rude. We were told, you MUST go to college or you won’t have a life. Then sold us predatory loans when most of us were 17-18 years old. This debt has made it impossible for many of us trying to survive a world where everything has skyrocketed in price. That’s why, I plan to deliver much-needed student loan relief to millions of Americans and plan to make education more affordable in the long run to prevent these issues from reoccurring.
What I’ll Do
Expanding the Biden Administration student loan forgiveness programs through Law
Giving each student loan borrow $20,000 in relief
Forgive all debt for borrowers that have already exceeded paid principal.
Forgive all debt for borrowers that make 200% of the poverty line or below.
Why It Matters
Much of the student loan debt has placed a significant burden on younger generations. It has made it much more difficult to pay off debt, own a home, and build up wealth unlike what previous generations have been able to do. We have fewer young people starting businesses and making investments in our local communities. The younger generations have to face unprecedented adversity despite being one of the most accomplished and educated compared to previous generations at the same time of life. This amount of debt will eventually cripple the economy and have ripple effects on the rest of American life. I say we try fixing this instead of handing out trillions to the incredibly wealthy again.
